Closet of Masks
Closet of Masks examines the roles we wear in daily life and the fragile boundary between identity and performance. Hanging alongside coats are masks labeled Daughter, Boss, Friend, Listener, Wife — each one a role society demands, each one an identity assumed. The smallest tag, “Me?”, questions whether an authentic self still exists beneath the expectations layered over time.
This artwork speaks to emotional labor, identity fragmentation, and the quiet exhaustion of constant role-switching. It is a reflection on how modern life often requires us to compartmentalize who we are in order to be accepted, leaving the question of authenticity unresolved.
